Wilier Triestina is Italy’s second oldest bike manufacturer and Italy's oldest continuously Italian owned bike maker. Since 1906, Wilier has been building performance bikes which have gone on to win every major European race.
Marco Pantani brought Wilier back to prominence in the late 1990s when he rode for the Wilier sponsored Mercatone Uno team, and, in the process, set the fastest time up Alpe d'Huez and the Mortirolo on a Wilier. During the 2003 and 2004 seasons, Wilier was the bike sponsor for Team Gerolsteiner and Team Lampre; in 2005 Wilier signed on with Cofidis, a contract which continued through 2006 along with Lampre.
In 2009, Wilier recommits itself to Lampre. With the likes of young cycling phenom Damiano Cunego, proven work-horse, and 2008 World Champion Alessandro Ballan, and veteran Daniele Bennati, Lampre will again be stomping around Europe on their Wilier Cento Unos and Le Rois, bikes which have proven time and again their value in races as diverse as the Tour of Flanders, Roubaix, the Giro, and the World Championships. Watch for great things from Lampre during the 2009 season, especially in significant stage races like Paris-Nice, the Giro, the Tour, the spring classics, and the fall classics.
Wilier is extremely proud of their cycling heritage, and this shows in every aspect of their beautifully handcrafted framesets. The finish, the ride, and the handling of these exceptional bikes is truly pro quality. From their most cost effective full carbon frames, like the Mortirolo, to their stunningly beautiful 900 gram Cento Uno, the quality and finish on every Wilier is unrivaled. Time and again we are blown away by Wilier's commitment to quality control and finish work. The workmanship and finishing touches show pride and quality at every glance.
