Strength Training
December 1st through January 29th, 2008
Strength & Conditioning for Endurance Athletes Course
Location: Cadence's Strength Training Studio, 174 Hudson Street, New York
Dates: Tuesdays 6:30 pm and Saturdays 1:00 pm, Nov 24th - Jan 19th, 2008
Cost: $450
Class size: Limited to 10
Preliminary steps for this program begin with individual flexibility assessment, strength assessment, and a personal history interview.
Endurance athletes can improve their sporting performance and increase their general quality of life by engaging in effective resistance training throughout the year. Resistance training is all too often seen as an exclusively off-season pursuit and this is incorrect.
Since resistance training is a supplemental part of an endurance athlete's overall preparation, there is no reason to employ a lengthy or elaborate program. The overall aim of the participants should be to get in the weightroom, focus on quality training, then leave the weightroom.
This training is pecifically tailored to the cycling and multisport athlete so the primary training focus will be the following general muscular areas:
Lower body
Core-lower back
Core-abdominal
Upper body pushing
Upper body pulling
Our overriding system of progression is "Simple to Complex, General to Specific." Participants should understand that we are focused on steady progress and improved performance at the end of this 8-week session so the intensity of effort initially will be low, but it will increase as we go along.
Class size limited to 10!
Price: $450
