8-Week Cyclocross Technique Class
9/9 through 10/28, Tuesdays 6 -- 7:30 pm
Based on the success and acclaim of Cadence’s 2007 Cyclocross class, we are pleased to announce the 2008 Cadence ‘cross class starting September 9. We have refined the course itinerary to include only the best parts of our previous class and new training tips and techniques gleaned from power analysis of cyclocross racing! This year’s class will include video analysis of proper (and improper) technique, power file analysis of cyclocross races, individual skills assessments and guest instructors. Whether you are an expert crosser looking to win nationals or a beginner looking to compete in your first race, Cadence will help you get a jump on the competition!
Each class will be a blend of a specific intensity intervals and cyclocross skills. Classes are carefully crafted by coaches Colin Sandberg and Mike Kuhn to be both informative and fun (as well as a killer workout). Classes will all be offsite, utilizing nearby locations such as Belmont Plateau, the Mann Music Center, and Wissahickon Park. Just like cross races, our classes will be held rain or shine.

Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon in Fairmount Park Class & Coaching
March 29th - June 14th, 2008; Saturdays 7:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m.
Cadence’s 2008 “P.I.T.” classes will take place on Saturday mornings at either 7:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. The classes are open to all triathletes—from beginner to advanced—and are focused on precisely and scientifically preparing your body and mind for the demands of the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon course. In addition to these classes, participants will also receive 3 months of Cadence’s 100% personalized Bronze Triathlete coaching package—a $530 value!
Classes will include run, bike, and swim sessions with structured intervals specifically designed to physiologically prepare you for the P.I.T. race course. Weekly run and bike sessions will be conducted at Cadence’s center in Manayunk while 1 swim class each month will be held at St. Joseph’s University pool. These intervals are designed to improve leg speed, aerobic and anaerobic power, muscular and cardiovascular endurance, swim stroke efficacy, mental toughness, and physiological efficiency. Advice on nutrition, hydration, and product choice will be provided and, as the race approaches, on-site race course previews with Cadence coaches will be held to help with tactics and strategy.
In addition to getting all the above, you will also receive your own personal coach during this three month preparatory period. Along with your very own triathlon coach you will have a daily training regimen accessible through Cadence’s web-based training calendar. Logging into your calendar will provide your day’s workout and allow you to track your progress over time and communicate with your coach.

Bike Racing Tactics Course
June 26th through August 14th, 2008; Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
Cadence's expert coaching staff get you stronger and smarter for racing and group rides!
Offered by Cadence's coaching staff from June 26th through August 14th, this 8-week course will consist of topics pertinent to bike racing including: bike handling, leadouts, tactics and strategies, climbing, peloton positioning, gear selection, energy conservation, reading the race, judging wind conditions, pace line skills, nutrition, and final sprints. In short, this course covers everything your riders need to know to win a race!
Syllabus
Week One: Overview, identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement; power analysis, anaerobic testing for 15 seconds, 1 minute, and 5minutes
Week Two: Bike handling and cornering techniques
Week Three: Leadouts, pacelines, sprinting, choosing the right wheel, race course analysis and reading the wind
Week Four: Great Valley Thursday night Criterium: putting it all together! Mock-team tactics.
Week Five: Recapping Great Valley, continuing with leadouts, bike handling, how to race a hill/climb
Week Six: Speed work and climbing
Week Seven: Great Valley Thursday night Criterium: taking tactics to the next level. Communication skills and reading individuals and the race, team work.
Week Eight: Retesting and strategies for your upcoming races or fast group rides
When & Where: Cadence, Philadelphia. 8 weeks of 1.5 hour Thursday night classes both indoors and outside, meeting twice at Great Valley Corporate Center. Course starts June 23rd and runs through August 14th.
Who: Only 16 spots available! This course is geared towards stronger cyclists who are interested in improving their road and criterium racing skills and tactics.

CGI Triathlon Events Comprehensive Training
April 6th through August 6th, 2008: Sundays 7:30 a.m., Mondays 6:30 p.m.
The goal of this program is to build on your winter and spring training and/or prior experience with more focussed preparation, conditioning and technique leading into one of the 2008 CGI Racing events. The results of this program will be significant, including vastly increased aerobic and anaerobic capacities, increased power output, increased muscular strength and endurance, improved cycling, running, and swimming skills, and improved individual race strategies. Class includes 16 run/bike sessions at Cadence and 16 pool sessions at St. Joe's pool.
